Natural Oyster Egg Food for Corals & Filter Feeders
First Bite Oyster Munch is a nutritious marine coral food made from oyster eggs and ovarian tissue, providing a range of tiny natural food particles suitable for corals, filter feeders and other reef invertebrates.
With particles ranging from approximately 1–200 microns, Oyster Munch provides food at a size that can be utilised by a wide variety of reef inhabitants.
Tiny Particles – Big Nutrition
Particle size is particularly important when choosing food for corals.
Oyster eggs are approximately 40–50 microns in size – around ½ to ⅓ the size of a rotifer and approximately ⅛ the size of an Artemia nauplius.
They're soft, highly nutritious and naturally rich in protein and omega-3 fatty acids, providing an excellent marine-derived food source.
Oyster Munch combines these eggs with oyster ovarian tissue to create a broader particle range of approximately 1–200 microns.
Suitable for a Wide Range of Reef Inhabitants
Oyster Munch is suitable for feeding:
• SPS corals
• LPS corals
• Gorgonians
• Filter-feeding organisms
• Suitable marine invertebrates
Its range of fine particle sizes makes it particularly useful in mixed reef aquariums containing different types of filter-feeding inhabitants.
Encourage a Strong Feeding Response
Oyster Munch can produce a noticeable feeding response from corals and other reef inhabitants.
For this reason, it can also be used shortly before feeding other coral foods. Once the corals begin displaying a feeding response, additional appropriate foods can then be offered.
Broadcast or Target Feed
Oyster Munch can be used in two ways.
For general feeding:
Add 1–2.5ml per 100 litres daily into an area of high water flow, allowing the food to disperse throughout the aquarium.
For target feeding:
Mix 1 part Oyster Munch with 4 parts aquarium water before feeding directly to suitable corals.
For new aquariums, begin with approximately half the normal dosage and gradually increase towards the full daily dose over around one month.
