Cushion Starfish is a predator of coral and sessile invertebrates.
Livestock arrives in and out of stock very regularly, depending upon availability of the item from the source. The more rare and expensive items are often difficult to hold in stock, and can take time to source, so we generally require a deposit to locate and purchase the extremely rare items
This coral eating starfish hardly looks like a starfish when fully grown, because large individuals become almost spherical with only a hint of having arms. Only when the starfish is turned over do the central mouth and five star shaped rows of tube feet reveal its identity. smaller individuals are star shaped, as they grow the inter ray areas fill in and expand relative to the tube foot rows. This starfish is seen in shades of red, brown, black or green and may have patches of yellow highlighting.
It may be kept in a large aquarium with no coral. They require standard reef parameters. With the correct water parameters and plenty of food such as chopped meaty foods this species will become quite hardy.
