Feather Starfish
You will earn 35 Points
Feather starfish are among the most beautiful marine invertebrates you're likely to come across. They have a relatively small central body surrounded by up to 200 'arms' - fine lateral branches that give the arms the appearance of a fine feather.
The feather starfish hang onto various reef structures, where they will then extend their arms into the current to catch plankton. For locomotion, the feather stars wave their arms to swim through the water column. It's mesmerising to watch them move around your marine aquarium!
How to care for feather starfish: These organisms require a steady moderate to strong water current. Feed them often with a mix of plankton foods. They are sensitive to changes in specific gravity, temperature, pH and oxygen levels in the aquarium. Feather starfish are extremely fragile and delicate, so care must be taken when handling them.
