Fauna Marin Power Phos is a premium iron hydroxide-based adsorption media developed to remove excess phosphate (PO₄) and silicate (SiO₂) from marine and reef aquariums.
Elevated phosphate can interfere with coral calcification and contribute to nuisance algae growth, while excess silicate may encourage diatom blooms.
Power Phos binds these dissolved substances to its surface, allowing them to be removed when the exhausted media is replaced.

How Does Power Phos Work?
The iron hydroxide granules attract and bind dissolved phosphate and silicate as aquarium water passes through the media.
These substances remain attached to the adsorber, helping maintain low nutrient concentrations.
Once the media becomes exhausted, it should be replaced to maintain effective phosphate removal.
Recommended Dosage
Initial dosage: 100ml per 300 litres of aquarium water.
After five days, the amount may be increased to 150ml per 300 litres, depending on measured phosphate levels.
Maximum dosage: 200ml per 300 litres.
Always introduce phosphate-removing media gradually, particularly in established reef aquariums.
Installation & Maintenance

Measure the required quantity for your aquarium.

Place the media in a filter bag, between layers of filter wool or inside a suitable fluidised-bed reactor.

Ensure consistent water flow through the media without excessive agitation.

Do not rinse before use – Power Phos is supplied pre-washed.

Test phosphate regularly using a reliable PO₄ test kit.

Replace exhausted media when phosphate begins increasing.
A temporary reddish discolouration may occur from fine particles and should clear quickly.
Important Advice
Avoid using Power Phos when phosphate is already extremely low. Excessive nutrient reduction can negatively affect coral health.
Monitor phosphate carefully and adjust the media quantity according to your aquarium's requirements.
