Clown Grouper also known as the Leaflip Soapfish, Leaflip Grouper, Spotted Soapfish, Snowflake Soapfish are found from the Comoros to the Line, Marquesan and Society islands, north to southern Japan, south to New Caledonia.
Livestock arrives in and out of stock very regularly, depending upon availability of the item from the source. The more rare and expensive items are often difficult to hold in stock, and can take time to source, so we generally require a deposit to locate and purchase the extremely rare items
The Clown Grouper is silverish-brown with white spotting over the entire body. It has black tiger stripes along its dorsal edge.
A larger aquarium with plenty of live rock over hangs and caves is required due to its size and eating habits. It is an aggressive fish and may eat tank mates as well as crustaceans, However they will not harm coral. The mucous of the coat is toxic and deters other fish from trying to eat it.
The Clown Grouper prefers a diet of meaty foods such as krill, shrimp, and other small fish.
Caution: This species can produce the skin toxin grammistin, which when stressed or injured may kill the fish in the aquarium.
