Fan Belly Filefish also known as the Australian Fan Belly Filefish or Fan Bellied Leatherjacket are found from Malaysia and Indonesia to Samoa, north to southern Japan, south to northwestern Australia and New South Wales.
Livestock arrives in and out of stock very regularly, depending upon availability of the item from the source. The more rare and expensive items are often difficult to hold in stock, and can take time to source, so we generally require a deposit to locate and purchase the extremely rare items
Fan Belly Filefish is a medium-large filefish. It has a mottled pattern of cream-white and brown and a large skin flap shaped like a fan, on his belly to make it stand out from the other filefishes.
Filefishes are usually bought because they eat aiptasia. Although this is often the case, some individuals refuse to eat this. On the other hand, it's known to pick on coral polyps and their tissue and this might be an important part of their diet in nature. So these fish are always a bit of a risk with corals. They are very friendly to other fish except their own genus though.
