Saddle Grouper also known as the Black Saddle Coral Grouper or Footballer Trout are found from Kenya to Mozambique, eastward to the Tuamoto Islands, north to the Ryukyu Islands, south to Queensland, Australia and including most islands of the Indian Ocean and of western and central Pacific
Livestock arrives in and out of stock very regularly, depending upon availability of the item from the source. The more rare and expensive items are often difficult to hold in stock, and can take time to source, so we generally require a deposit to locate and purchase the extremely rare items
The Saddle Grouper has a white or pale yellow body with five dark brown or black bars and numerous dark edged blue spots that are primarily on the posterior portions of the body.
A very large aquarium with plenty of live rock over hangs and caves is required due to its size, shy nature and feeding habits. Anyone thinking of keeping one of this grouper species should have both the space and budget to house, feed and maintain a large adult fish. They can be an extremely aggressive fish that should not be kept with other Grouper species and may eat its smaller tank mates as well as crustaceans, However they will not harm corals.
The saddle Grouper prefers a diet of meaty foods such as krill, shrimp, and other small fish.
