Maintain essential reef aquarium chemistry with the Deltec KM Kalkwasser Stirrer. Designed to prepare a consistent supply of Kalkwasser (limewater), this specialist reactor helps replenish calcium and alkalinity consumed by growing corals, coralline algae and other calcifying organisms.
Available in KM500, KM500S and KM800 models, the Deltec KM offers a convenient way to incorporate Kalkwasser supplementation into your aquarium's daily maintenance.
How Does a Kalkwasser Stirrer Work?
Kalkwasser is produced by mixing calcium hydroxide powder with purified freshwater. The resulting alkaline solution contains dissolved calcium and hydroxide ions, which help maintain calcium and alkalinity when introduced into seawater.
The Deltec KM uses a continuous stirring mechanism to keep undissolved calcium hydroxide available for mixing with incoming RO water.
Clear Kalkwasser is then delivered from the upper section of the reactor, providing a consistent supply without manually preparing fresh batches.

For additional stability, Kalkwasser is often used alongside a calcium reactor, helping offset some of the pH-lowering effects associated with CO₂ injection.

The reactor can be positioned inside or outside a suitable sump, with the outlet arranged to return Kalkwasser by gravity.
