Calanus is harvested whilst feeding on phytoplankton in pristine artic waters. Calanus is the ''engine'' of the ecosystem in the Atlantic Ocean, constituting a complete blend of essential components required by fish and other sea life inculding corals and invertebrates. These components are of vital importance for healthy growth and development of larval and juvenile marine fish and shrimp larvae. Calanus contains high levels of natural attractants promoting appetite and feding response. Extremely high levles of natural astaxanthin and other carotenoids known to promote beautiful colours in fish are present in Calanus, it is ''the food'' for enhancing these colours in marine fish.
Calanus freezer bars contain 100% organisms with no added fillers. The Calanus is frozen upon harvest into these small blocks giving the aquarist a product that is second to none for quality and freshness. These bars contain virtually 100% whole intact Calanus organisms and no added water giving you a food that even the finickiest of fish will find difficult to resist.
Pieces of Calanus freezer bars can be broken off, thawed and stored in a refrigerator for up to 14 days for easy feeding.
